On Saturday, October 10, as part of AMACI’s Contemporary Art Day, the two labyrinths by Viola Di Massimo will be open to the public in Sorti, a small hamlet of Pieve Torina (MC): At Every Step, a Minotaur, created in 2015, and the more recent Labyrinth of the Id, created in 2025.

From 11:00 am to 6:00 pm, the installations will be open for free, allowing visitors to enter and walk through the labyrinths. The artist will accompany the public in discovering their history, meaning, and the concepts that inspired them.

At Every Step, a Minotaur is a classical seven-circuit labyrinth, built with 515 stones and featuring a path of approximately 140 metres. The Labyrinth of the Id, created in 2025, is larger and immersed in nature. The two works are deeply interconnected, each being part of the other, like two sides of the same coin. Through their meanings and the concepts from which they originated, the artist will introduce the works and invite those who walk through them to experience an intimate and personal journey.

Both labyrinths are distinguished by symbols and by the inscription “Naòm”, written in an unknown alphabet, which accompanies the journey as one of its mysterious and symbolic elements.

With its small number of inhabitants, Sorti has been a meeting place for curious visitors and art enthusiasts for more than ten years, drawn by the labyrinths and the artist’s work. Alongside the installations, Viola Di Massimo’s studio houses earth, minerals, and plant materials destined to be transformed into pigments, as well as paintings and sculptures.

An opportunity to encounter contemporary art through a direct experience: entering the labyrinth, walking its path, and allowing oneself to be carried along by the journey.
