UNICUM Itinerary is a series of guided tours led by specialists who, starting from the object featured as part of UNICUM, develop a thematic itinerary through other works and objects in the Collection, offering new perspectives and opportunities for further exploration.
UNICUM is a six-monthly exhibition format dedicated, on each occasion, to a single work from the Cerruti Collection. The programme brings lesser-known works to the forefront, highlighting their formal, historical and symbolic qualities. The current exhibition presents an Isfahan carpet from the reign of Shah Abbas the Great, woven in the workshops of the Safavid court between the last decade of the 16th century and the mid-17th century.
On 10 October, art historian and specialist in Islamic and Indian art Beatrice Campi will lead visitors on a journey through the carpets of the Cerruti Collection, starting with the Safavid carpet featured in UNICUM #1.
An opportunity to take a closer look at objects that, in the everyday life of the Villa, we are more accustomed to walking on than observing: to discover their materials, details and stories up close, and to explore an important aspect of Francesco Federico Cerruti’s collecting practice.
Booking required.
The guided tour is conducted in Italian, with an English-language printed guide available to follow the itinerary.
Two sessions are scheduled, at 12:00 pm and 2:00 pm.
