On the occasion of the 22nd Contemporary Day, promoted by AMACI – Association of Italian Contemporary Art Museums, the Fondazione Summa will exceptionally open the Franco Summa House and Artist’s Studio to the public in Pescara.
On Saturday, October 10, 2026, visitors will have the opportunity to explore a space deeply connected to the life and artistic research of Franco Summa, one of the leading figures of the Italian contemporary art scene, and to discover the place where he lived, conceived his projects and developed a fundamental part of his artistic practice.
The House and Artist’s Studio is not simply an exhibition space, but a place that preserves the memory of the artist’s work and reveals the inseparable relationship between art, architecture, everyday space and community, which lies at the heart of Summa’s artistic vision.
The house and studio, now home to the Fondazione Summa, represent an important testimony to the artist’s career and to his conception of art as a means of creating relationships and transforming spaces. Here, artworks, environments and traces of the artist’s practice interact, offering visitors a direct and intimate experience of Franco Summa’s creative universe.
Located at 81 Viale Gabriele D’Annunzio in Pescara, the Franco Summa House and Artist’s Studio is officially recognized by the Superintendence of Archaeology, Fine Arts and Landscape for the Provinces of Chieti and Pescara as a site of national interest.
The special opening for Contemporary Day therefore represents a unique opportunity to enter this space and gain a deeper understanding of Franco Summa’s work and thought through a place that continues to preserve his presence, research and artistic vision.
