On Saturday, October 10, from 5:00 to 7:00 pm, SCD Studio, Perugia will host the finissage of KRYPTOS, an exhibition devoted to Susanna Cati’s recent body of work, curated by Barbara Pavan, as part of the 22nd Giornata del Contemporaneo, promoted by AMACI – Association of Italian Contemporary Art Museums.
The event marks the conclusion of KRYPTOS, a project that traverses the inner geographies of memory, exploring the relationship between individual experience and the collective dimension. Through an extensive body of work, Cati develops her own form of “emotional archaeology,” excavating fragments, traces, and layers of lived experience in order to reveal memory not as something static, but as a fluid process of continual transformation and rewriting.
The autobiographical dimension thus becomes the starting point for a broader reflection on the human condition. The personal diary evoked by the artist opens into a shared space in which intimate experiences—pain and joy, ruptures and continuities, what endures and what inevitably changes—can resonate with the viewer’s own experience.
In KRYPTOS, memory and the future converge in the present, while identity and existence are understood not as fixed or completed states, but as processes in a constant state of becoming. The works create a resonant space between inner life and history, between trace and transformation, inviting visitors to move between immersion and distance, between recognizing a personal story and discovering within that same story something universal.
The finissage will offer a further opportunity to engage with Cati’s project and with a practice that entrusts art with the ability to transform individual memory into a shared experience—one that remains open to interpretation, reflection, and self-examination.
A bilingual Italian/English catalogue, published by Al3vie Editore, accompanies the exhibition, documenting and further exploring the exhibition project.
