On Saturday, 10 October, the Contemporary Art Day returns. Promoted by AMACI, the initiative brings together museums, institutions and cultural organisations throughout Italy each year to celebrate contemporary art and foster dialogue between heritage, culture and the local area.

For the twenty-second edition, the Museo Gypsotheca Antonio Canova presents an event dedicated to Italian museography in the post-war period, with particular attention to the work and experiences of Franco Albini, BBPR and Carlo Scarpa.

At 4:00 pm, Prof. Orietta Lanzarini will give a lecture on the development of Italian museography in the post-war period, exploring how architecture, exhibition design and works of art progressively shaped a new relationship between museum spaces and the public.

At 5:00 pm, the lecture will be followed by a guided tour of the Gypsotheca, led by Prof. Lanzarini. The tour will continue the discussion within the Museum itself, examining its architecture and its relationship with Antonio Canova’s works from the perspective of museography.

The event offers an opportunity to reinterpret the Museum and its collection by bringing the history of Canova’s heritage into dialogue with the transformations that shaped the contemporary museum throughout the twentieth century.
