Biasutti & Biasutti Gallery presents its collectors with a selection of photographic works by screenwriter, director and writer Enrico Vanzina (Rome, 1949). The photographs take the form of contemporary still lifes: autonomous works conceived to engage in dialogue with one another, creating a series of “variations” on selected icons of contemporary life. The images are united by the use of pop colours and an essential visual language that portrays the world through objects, shapes and characters.
Devoid of a single vanishing point, the compositions are pleasantly disorienting and rich in references, articulated across multiple levels through a digital pictorial methodology. The colours, sometimes delicate and at other times vibrant, contribute to the creation of a suspended dimension in which time appears to stand still.
The works thus evoke Enrico Vanzina’s universe: cinema celebrities, characters, objects and fragments of everyday life become the protagonists of fifty “cult snapshots”. These images transform fleeting moments into tangible pictures, preserving their emotional impact intact.
Each photograph originates from an immediate and unrepeatable gesture. The colour rendering, delicate yet intense, retains the unpredictable quality traditionally associated with film, making every image unique.
Enrico Vanzina observes, selects and captures time: one frame at a time.
