The Ermanno Casoli ETS Foundation and EMC FIME are delighted to invite you on Saturday 10 October 2026, at 11.00 am, at the EMC FIME site in Castelfidardo (AN), to the unveiling of Avere fame di vento, the site-specific artwork created by Arianna Pace in collaboration with 32 company employees, to mark the 24th edition of the Ermanno Casoli Prize, curated by Marcello Smarrelli.
Avere fame di vento serves as a bridge between the company and the local area, between industry and craftsmanship, based on a shared element that is deeply rooted in their identity: air. Air is fundamental to the operation of the engines produced by EMC FIME and, more broadly, by the Elica Group, and is also linked to the Castelfidardo area, world-renowned for the production of accordions – musical instruments that transform air into sound.
The creation of the artwork was preceded by a comprehensive participatory process involving 32 people from EMC FIME, representing a range of professional profiles, regardless of their role or function. The workshops alternated between theoretical and practical sessions, beginning with a conversation between Arianna Pace and Marcello Smarrelli focusing on the artist’s research and practice. Here, the reference to archaeology becomes a method of investigation: just as a stratified excavation brings buried evidence to light, so the artist’s work seeks to bring to the surface memories, perceptions and relationships that are normally invisible.
Led by the artist, participants were invited to reflect on the concept of landscape and to identify with the intangible elements of air and wind. Through the manipulation of clay, they sought to give form to the question: “What is your essence as wind?”
With the support of sound designer Lorenzo Mandolesi, the participants’ breathing was subsequently recorded inside a semi-anechoic chamber, which the company uses daily to test its products. The artist and the sound designer also sampled the sounds produced by the machinery during production, interpreting the company as a soundscape, made up of tones, rhythms and nuances.
