The exhibition _Presenze d’Arte Contemporanea_ (Presences of Contemporary Art), curated by _Minerva MinervAArte_ for the _11th edition of the Festival of Sociology: An Environment to Inhabit. Spaces, Lives, Rights_, has opened in Narni.
The opening closed the day dedicated to peace by the City of Narni, with the arrival of the Giro d’Italia of the Lantern for Peace. After institutional speeches, artist _Marilena Sutera_ presented the video _“732”_: a large silk-screen printed veil narrating war. News of the bombings in Gaza is marked by a daily intervention on the fabric to release dismay and bewilderment. The work is part of the installation _“Where have all the flowers gone”_, a light structure with printed canvases symbolizing the precariousness of life in refugee tents.
On display:
– _“Tapestry for Peace”_ by _Donne per la Pace_: 463 fragments of reclaimed fabric sewn and embroidered, part of the national project _10.100.1000 squares of women for peace_;
– _“Precarious Balance”_ by _Mauro Pulcinella_: a direct, harsh installation on the “non-places” of destruction. _“I would like to write a poem for the inhabitants of Gaza. But every word refuses to be written”_;
– _“Asian Glances”_ by _Roberto Menghini_: photographs of places still intact, untouched by tourism and media contamination;
– _Industrial Archaeology_ by _Alberto Bravini_.
