CONTEMPORARY VENICE
A Liquid Venice
Venice is a place in constant transformation, shaped by the waters of its canals, by light and reflections, by the tides, the Lagoon and the barene. A landscape that appears still and suspended in an undefined era is, in fact, constantly changing, creating a different geography each time.
From this vision comes the artist’s desire to present, in her/his art studio in Venice, on the occasion of the “Giornata del Contemporaneo 2026”, entitled “Geographies of Contemporaneity,” a personal collection of sculptural necklaces inspired by this theme: contemporary jewellery as a fragment of a place in constant transformation.
The selected art necklaces, devoted to the vision of a territory in perpetual movement, almost unstable, are works that emerged from a long process of research and exploration: journeys across the barene, travelling through the Lagoon and its canals, accompanied by the study of historical and artistic documentation preserved in the museums of the area.
In the creative process, following the initial concept and drawings, each sculpture comes to life through a careful search for materials, almost always selected from local artisan workshops: Venetian glass beads, precious fabrics and antique artefacts.
The works, conceived also to be worn, thus introduce a relationship between the territory and the body. What normally belongs to the landscape can become something personal and mobile, something to carry with oneself, to inhabit.
The jewel becomes a geography in motion: not merely a place, but living matter. An invitation to contemplate Venice from a different perspective—a liquid Venice.
