Performative lecture based on the Chiara Fumai Archive

OCCULTA is a science outreach project funded by Dipartimento di Studi Umanistici at the University of Turin, dedicated to the study of heritage-making processes as practices for the creation of the commons. The project takes the Chiara Fumai Archive as its starting point. Preserved at CRRI, the archive is dedicated to safeguarding and transmitting the artistic legacy of Chiara Fumai (Rome, 1978 – Bari, 2017).
CRRI is a partner in the initiative, which also involves the Turin-based association Mucho Mas!.
OCCULTA was conceived and is coordinated by Cristina Voto, lecturer and researcher at Dipartimento di Studi Umanistici of the University of Turin, together with Francesca Pegan, researcher at the Chiara Fumai Archive.
Through participatory sessions and activities open to the public, OCCULTA offers a programme of research and mediation centred on materials from the Fumai Archive. These materials provide a starting point for exploring how an artist’s legacy is constructed, preserved and made accessible to the community.
The public event, presented in a touch-and-speech format, will feature contributions from the project’s Scientific Committee, comprising lecturers Massimo Bonifazio, Eleonora Chiais, Daniela Fargione and Emilia Perassi, together with Guido Costa.
Their contributions will explore the artist’s practice through its multiple fields of research. Guido Costa, the artist’s long-standing gallerist, will share with the audience a gift he received from Chiara Fumai.
