The niArt Gallery presents NEL SEGNO DEL FUOCO an artistic dialogue between Matteo Lucca and Felice Nittolo curated by Luca Maggio, art critic.
The works of the two artists made of glass, terracotta, bread and metal are compared and in creative dialogue with each other: thought and made in different decades and contexts highlight how the two artists are united by the same passion for the same materials and for the energy of fire, the central leitmotiv of the exhibition.
Matteo Lucca’s metal lacerations of torso, faces, arms and crossed hands are the development and deepening of the more recent 1920s of similar themes previously treated with bread. His informal push is more evident in aluminum and metal mixtures, where the human configuration is reduced to pieces obtained by subsequent castings on the cast, similarly to Felice Nittolo’s aluminum Menhirs, blocks between the natural sacred and the anthropomorphic. Not surprisingly, the Sumerian verticality of the two terracotta and casten glass of Nittolo, responds the horizontality of the Mani di pane of Lucca.
The two artists are constantly in dialogue/confrontal with experimentalism that characterizes their work. In this regard, it is always appropriate to quote what Felice Nittolo wrote in 1984 illustrating his A-rhythmism: «…I propose an Artistic movement that has at its origin the “card” as a vehicle to express an idea. Tile of any material, of any shape, of any size; approached and moved away suddenly, constant and inhomogeneous in the same time-space. Create, generate, “paint” with the card that has in itself the natural power to live for centuries. (…) The movement is not necessarily mosaic, it starts from the mosaic (tessera) but wants to involve Art in a general sense: Artist only creator-emecutor of the result, without intermediaries».
