Following the great public response achieved in 2025, the city of San Severino Marche returns to showcase the artistic heritage of the region with the new edition of the exhibition THE NATURE OF THE MARK IN LE MARCHE. Hosted in the evocative setting of the former Chiesa della Misericordia in Piazza del Popolo, the exhibition, curated by Maria Letizia Paiato and Paolo Gobbi, will be inaugurated on Saturday, October 10 at 6:00 PM and will remain open to the public until November 29, 2026. While keeping a strong focus on the dynamics of private collecting, this new exhibition chapter shifts its attention to the dissemination and transmission of artistic knowledge. Under the subtitle Traces of Collecting Between Drawing & Teaching, the investigation focuses on the theme of drawing, highlighting the central role of regional institutions, with particular reference to the educational impact of the Academies of Fine Arts of Macerata and Urbino. The project explores in a targeted manner the dual role of artist-teacher and artist-student, documenting the evolution of graphic practice through the development of teaching methodologies. The itinerary will present a selection of works from valuable private collections, allowing the public to admire the works of some of the most important masters of the 20th century and contemporary art from or tied to the Marche region. Among the protagonists on display, prominent names stand out, such as Giorgio Morandi and Osvaldo Licini, both students of Augusto Majani at the Academy of Fine Arts of Bologna. Their bond testifies to the profound value of the transition from students to masters: a complicity born at school desks that transformed into a sincere friendship made of mutual esteem and daily affectionate gestures, such as the simple custom of exchanging chocolates—the famous Cremini FIAT created in 1911 by the historic Majani chocolate maker in Bologna. Alongside them are internationally renowned masters, authors who have deeply influenced both aesthetics and the teaching of the mark, such as Pericle Fazzini, Giò Pomodoro, Renato Bruscaglia, Leonardo Castellani, Remo Brindisi, Omar Galliani, Alberto Garutti, Concetto Pozzati, and Walter Valentini.
