Since 1991, Peccioli — a village in the Valdera area of the Province of Pisa —has been gradually building what is now recognized as Italy’s first public open-air contemporary art museum.
It is the “Peccioli Project”. Not a collection confined to galleries, but a work in progress spread across the town’s streets, squares, and industrial buildings. It has grown piece by piece to encompass over seventy permanent installations, under the direction of the Peccioliper Foundation. And now it is united under the name of MACCA (Open-Air Museum of Contemporary Art).

Starting Saturday, October 10, this collection expands to include two new additions — two works, two opposing yet complementary ways of conceiving the landscape and the gaze that traverses it.
