Antonia Jannone Disegni di Architettura presents a new exhibition dedicated to Roberto Sambonet.
The Pietrasanta location continues its exhibition series through the eyes of Sambonet, a designer who has won the Compasso d’Oro four times and an artist whose work is deeply rooted in the observation of reality.
During the summer of 1984, Sambonet created 13 watercolors on Ischia, which are now being presented to the public for the first time: plants, marine creatures, and waves crashing against the rocks.
As always, form emerges from the use of light and color, which become signs capable of revealing the very fabric of reality—that is, drawing.
Accompanying the watercolors are two oil paintings, in which the sea and the reflections of light on the water take center stage; both were created in Greece.
Sambonet’s artistic practice, as curator Enrico Morteo has highlighted, unfolds between the apparent freedom of the mark and the systematic nature of the method: forms, colors, shadows, and light are observed in their variations, through repetitions and sequences. This approach links his painterly practice to that of a designer, in a continuous interplay between intuition and structure.
The exhibition in Pietrasanta thus presents a Mediterranean observed through details, variations, and fragments: the landscape, vegetation, and above all, water become, for Sambonet, the subject of an investigation into form, light, and color.
