On Saturday, October 10, from 10:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m., the FORO G gallery will open its doors for an open day dedicated to contemporary art. The event is part of the shared program promoted by ORMA – Officine per la Ricerca e la Mediazione nell’Arte (Workshops for Research and Mediation in Art), a network that brings together independent organizations engaged in contemporary research in the Messina area. On the occasion of AMACI Contemporary Art Day 2026, ORMA is offering a broad calendar of events in various locations across the province of Messina, showcasing the diverse experiences and projects that comprise the network. For the day, it presents the “MAVARE” Atlas, an exhibition and research project born as a RESTITUTION from an investigation into ritual healing and propitiatory practices passed down orally in various Italian regions. The exhibition is based on field research dedicated to the folk knowledge preserved primarily by women – grandmothers, mothers, and elderly healers – custodians of formulas, gestures, and rituals that have spanned generations and continue to survive in collective memory. Through painting, photography, drawing, and printmaking, twenty-two artists have translated the findings of the investigation into visual language, constructing a truly contemporary atlas of healing rituals. The exhibition addresses the theme of healing not as the simple elimination of symptoms, but as a practice of connection, listening, and transformation, bringing together anthropology, memory, symbol, and artistic research. The project, curated by Roberta Guarnera and Mariateresa Zagone, brings together the works of Giulia Bartoccelli, Laura Bruno, Miriana Cantarella, Amalia Caratozzolo, Carmen Cardillo, Angelo Carmisciano, Marisa Casaburi, Anna Di Leo, Chiara Fronterré, Pupi Fuschi, Federica Gonnelli, Roberta Guarnera, Adelisa Lo Conte, Sara Lovari, Michela Magazzù, Tiziana Menegazzo, Marina Pace, Rita Palla, Veronica Rastelli, Graziella Romeo, Vittoria Spina, and Elisa Zadi.
