Nomadic Shadows

For Giornata del Contemporaneo, Will Paucar opens his Milan studio to visitors.
His portraits have no faces. Disfigured and stripped of identity, they come from a violent, anguished gesture that runs through every canvas and brings to the surface what life rarely admits: its incoherence, its weight, the darkness each of us carries within.
That darkness is a shadow that travels with us, wherever we go. Over time, rituals have built layer upon layer over reality, so that we don’t have to look at it. By taking the face away, Paucar unmasks them and leaves us with nothing to hide behind.
