La quercia di Sasso

Following in the footsteps of Maria Lai—who in 1981 created the work Legarsi alla montagna (Binding Oneself to the Mountain), an experience that engaged the entire community of a Sardinian village—a collective visit will be organized to the site in the village of Sasso where a centuries-old oak tree once stood, followed by a reflection through music, images, and words. The underlying theme is solastalgia: the emotional and psychological distress experienced by those who remain behind while their native environment undergoes destructive transformations before their very eyes. The scheduled events thus take on a collective significance, expressing love for one’s land and the urgent need to awaken awareness regarding the changes in the landscape that greets our gaze every day.
