IN BLACK AND WHITE

The beginning of an authentic journey represents a boundary to be crossed—a limit that both separates and connects two dimensions. Limen is precisely this: the threshold as a place of passage, transformation, and possibility. It is the space where “inside” and “outside” cease to be separate dimensions and become parts of a single journey.
The exhibition thus brings into dialogue the artistic inquiries of Laura Pedizzi and Michele Beltrami—two distinct languages ​​that meet within the most intimate realm of artistic exploration, right here at this Limen.
In Laura Pedizzi’s works, whiteness, emptiness, and rarefaction serve as tools of subtraction, creating spaces of silence and suspension. Matter seems to recede, allowing what is normally invisible to emerge: a perceptual and introspective dimension where figure, space, and time appear to lose their boundaries.
Michele Beltrami, conversely, works through the density of the mark, using India ink, dark tones, and stark contrasts. His work captures the viewer’s gaze, drawing it into a deeper, layered dimension where the graphic medium becomes a site of tension, exploration, and confrontation with the hidden depths of the self.
Two seemingly opposing approaches thus find themselves interrogating a shared dimension. The subjects in both artists’ works appear suspended in an undefined space-time, removed from the contingent world and brought back to an inner realm.
It is precisely in this state of suspension that the threshold acquires its deepest meaning: the journey inward is not an act of withdrawal, but one of crossing over. Limen thus becomes the threshold between two artistic visions—approaches distinct in language and technique, yet capable of converging at this point of passage: between the visible and the invisible, presence and absence, black and white.
