Details of the Contemporary is a photographic project that explores the relationship between human beings and the contemporary city through a series of urban details, architectural fragments, and elements of everyday space. The city is not portrayed in its entirety, but through what usually remains at the margins of our gaze: a surface, an architectural element, a sign, a geometry, a material, a trace.
These apparently anonymous details, when observed closely, become testimonies to the ways in which human beings construct, transform, and experience their surroundings. The contemporary city is, in fact, an organism in constant transformation, shaped by the interaction of individual needs, social dynamics, technological development, architecture, and time. At the same time, it profoundly influences those who inhabit it: shaping their paths, habits, perceptions, and ways of relating to space.
The photographs seek a point of encounter between human beings and the city, between what is designed and what is experienced, between the collective dimension of urban space and the personal dimension of the gaze. The details thus become fragments of a broader narrative: not simply images of architecture, but traces of human presence within the city and of the city within human experience. Through photography, the project invites us to slow down our gaze and discover something unexpected in the ordinary. Each detail can become a small key to understanding the contemporary world, a fragment through which to observe the city and, indirectly, ourselves.
