ALÌTHEA originates within the research developed by Angela Florio through DecorAzione®, an independent atelier based in Milan’s historic 5VIE district. More than an operational space, DecorAzione® is a forge of contemporaneity where art, decoration, design, and material culture converge in a research practice exploring the relationship between surface, matter, light, and perception.

The atelier’s research is founded on the idea that decoration is not an accessory element but a language capable of transforming the relationship between individuals and space. Through artworks, installations, material experimentation, and educational activities, DecorAzione® investigates the ability of matter to evolve and generate new interpretations of reality, creating an ongoing dialogue between tradition and contemporaneity.

Within this context, ALÌTHEA takes shape. Its name derives from the Greek term Aletheia, meaning revelation, that which emerges from shadow and manifests itself through light. The work stems from a reflection on transformation and finds an initial source of inspiration in the encounter with the WAWY vase by Mar.car.3D and in their exploration of color as a dynamic perceptual phenomenon, capable of changing according to the observer and the surrounding environment.

ALÌTHEA is a triptych conceived as a single artwork articulated through three presences. Created by transforming recycled material into a new visual matter, it combines sustainability, experimentation, and aesthetic research within a coherent and indivisible whole. Each element contains an inner void while appearing externally as a luminous presence, crossed by chromatic variations that gradually emerge according to the intensity of light and the viewer’s point of observation.

The rotation of the three presences generates continuous chromatic variations, establishing a direct relationship with the viewer. The triptych is conceived as a unified organism that interacts with space through light, movement, and time. The artwork never offers a definitive image of itself; rather, it reveals itself through an ongoing succession of perceptual transformations, making each experience unique and unrepeatable.

Within this dimension, the research of Angela Florio and DecorAzione® opens onto a reflection on the fourth dimension, understood as the joint manifestation of space and time. Color shifts, light moves, the observer changes position, and the artwork constantly transforms. Each moment generates a new visual configuration, making the process of becoming perceptible as an integral part of the aesthetic experience.

ALÌTHEA represents the most recent evolution of a research path investigating the transformative power of matter and the role of light as a generator of meaning. On the occasion of Angela Florio’s fourth participation in the Day of Contemporary Art, the work proposes a reflection on revelation as a continuous process: what appears is never definitive.
