On Saturday, October 10 at 6:00 PM, Casa Studio Galleria CVM VENIO will host the opening of the photographic exhibition Mille Sguardi (A Thousand Gazes). The event is part of the official program for the 22nd Giornata del Contemporaneo, the major national celebration promoted by AMACI (Association of Italian Contemporary Art Museums).
The exhibition gathers visual memories and images captured during three weeks spent in Uganda on a volunteering journey with the Joy For You association. Some journeys do not end upon returning home; they remain in the eyes, in the faces encountered, in the vivid colors, and in the quiet details of daily life. “Mille Sguardi” stems from the desire to give voice to emotions that words alone struggle to explain, turning photography into a bridge of dialogue and connection between seemingly distant worlds.
Through the lens, the exhibition invites visitors on an immersive journey through the light of Ugandan landscapes and the depth of the gazes met along the way, rediscovering how close geographically distant communities and people can truly be.
“I photographed what I saw, but above all what moved me: the colors of Uganda, the details of daily life, and the stories of the people I met,” explains the artist. “I hope each photograph can convey at least a part of what I experienced and inspire viewers to pause, reflect, and connect.”
