On the occasion of the 22nd Contemporary Art Day, organized by AMACI—the Association of Italian Contemporary Art Museums—Piano Terra will participate in the event on Saturday, October 10, with “EXOSKELETON: Designing the Body Beyond the Body”, a special open life drawing class that is free and open to everyone, scheduled from 12:00 p.m. to 1:00 p.m.

For this occasion, the usual Saturday morning life drawing session will intersect with contemporary artistic exploration through a presentation by artist and instructor Davide Miceli.

During the class, a model will wear one of the artist’s sculptures: a sort of arm guard with organic and vaguely monstrous forms, which alters the perception of the body and changes its silhouette. This sculptural element thus enters the classroom space, transforming a traditional exercise in observation and representation into an experience in which body, artwork, and drawing interact.

Participants will be invited to engage with a figure that is no longer merely a model to be portrayed: the integration of the sculpture onto the body introduces unexpected forms and new possibilities for observation, linking the representation of the human figure to the artist’s imagination and artistic exploration.

The class also serves as an initial opportunity to explore the work of Davide Miceli, who on November 14, 2026, will be the featured artist at the next Open Studio event—the format through which Piano Terra opens its doors to the public to showcase the artistic practice of the faculty members who work and teach in the space.

While in the life-drawing class an element of his practice temporarily enters the educational realm, Open Studio will offer the chance to get a closer look at his practice.

At the end of the class, the experience will continue within the spaces of Piano Terra: the drawings created by the participants will be shown on a wall of the studio, forming a collective representation of the activity, while the sculpture will be placed in the display window, becoming visible from the outside as well and open to the gaze of passersby.
