This is one of the last photographs of Rosario Mazzella, portrayed in his home-studio in Naples beside one of his final paintings. His gaze still reveals the intensity of someone who devoted an entire life to art. The painting reflects the freedom and provocative character of his later work: the figure gradually dissolves, almost losing its identity, leaving behind stains, shadows, and fragments of memory. Colour, collage, and writing overlap on the canvas, transforming the image into memory, trace, and presence.
