Things That Are About to Be is shaped as an exploration of Mauro Pinotti’s research around the idea of the future, understood not as a prediction but as an imaginative territory and a space of possibilities. The works Foolish Future, Concrete, The Party Is Over, and I Leocorni create a discontinuous landscape, populated by forms, scenarios, and presences that seem to belong to a time still in the making. Matter and image become tools through which the artist builds possible realities, oscillating between a dystopian dimension and poetic tension. The future thus appears as a suspended condition, a mental place where the present is deformed, recomposed, and observed from a temporal distance. The works do not illustrate a possible tomorrow but evoke its traces: what could happen, what could exist, what has not yet taken shape. From this perspective, Pinotti’s research takes on the character of an open inquiry, where imagination and matter becomes a device to question the uncertainty of the time to come. Things that are about to be is therefore a collection of visions in which the future is not told, but continuously generated.
