AMACI – the Association of Italian Contemporary Art Museums – is pleased to announce that, from January 2026, the Pino Pascali Foundation – Museum of Contemporary Art officially joins the network of member museums.
The decision, expressed by the Members’ Assembly, is based on recognition of the Museum’s growth path and the high quality of its cultural, exhibition and research activities. The Foundation’s entry was assessed as a significant added value for AMACI, capable of contributing authoritatively to the consolidation of the Italian contemporary art system, with particular attention to the region in which it operates.
With this membership, the Pino Pascali Foundation becomes the first museum in Puglia to join the Association, further broadening AMACI’s territorial presence: the network now covers 13 of Italy’s 20 regions – equivalent to 60% of the national territory – and comprises 27 member museums in total.

The Pino Pascali Foundation’s entry into AMACI represents a significant step in strengthening collaboration between public museum institutions dedicated to promoting contemporary art, with the aim of activating new synergies and fostering the spread of artistic culture across the country.
PINO PASCALI FOUNDATION – MUSEUM OF CONTEMPORARY ART
The Pino Pascali Museum was established in 1998, following a significant bequest of works and memorabilia belonging to the artist, made by his family. In 2010, the Museum became the Pino Pascali Foundation, jointly supported by the Puglia Region and the Municipality of Polignano a Mare, with its own statute and internal regulations. Its current premises are a restored former municipal slaughterhouse perched above the sea — the seaside home Pascali had long wished for.
The Foundation is organised to work through thematic strands, in order to offer a vision of art that is as eclectic as possible and in keeping with the leading avant-garde linguistic research of the moment.
The Foundation’s activity takes its lead from the figure of Pino Pascali, one of the most important exponents of Italian and international art during the 1960s, who died in Rome at just 33 years of age, and who remains a fundamental point of reference for the development of the museum’s exhibition programme.
In addition to a substantial number of works by Pino Pascali, the Foundation displays works by the most significant artists from Puglia, as well as works by winners of the Pino Pascali Prize. The permanent collection and temporary exhibitions offer the public a cultural programme in line with the most highly regarded museum standards worldwide — to the extent that, in 2013, it was awarded First Prize as Italy’s Best Foundation for Contemporary Art.
