Curated by Alfredo Cramerotti and Auronda Scalera, the exhibition presents—in dialogue with Carlo Scarpa’s architecture and garden—one of the leading figures of contemporary Chinese abstract art, who has made this universal symbol the foundation of a rigorous and constantly evolving practice. From the repetition of a single gesture emerges a code for interpreting the world. Since 1988, Ding Yi has been painting a single motif: the cross. The exhibition brings together new and historical works alongside a series of stone steles, tracing the development of Ding Yi’s visual language within one of Venice’s most evocative spaces.
