The exhibition Misia De Angelis: Human Nature, presented by Cristina Moregola Gallery, features a title that prompts reflection on what human nature truly is. As living beings, we are nature ourselves; we need to recognize our origins and roots with an urgency that leads an increasing number of people to seek direct contact with the earth. However, Human Nature also refers to that sense of superiority that has inexorably led, and continues to lead, to environmental destruction and self-destruction. According to the artist, we must drastically shift our perspective and turn it inward—understanding how we are destroying our own human nature even before the environment, and why we have severed the balance and harmonious relationship between our existence and the Earth.
Awareness of environmental issues combined with a deep relationship with nature—themes that have always been present in Misia De Angelis’s thoughts and works—define a poetic vision in her research. This gaze does not remain fixated on the human condition, but instead explores a silent, meditative space where the painted medium dissolves into light and vibrant hues.
Drawing on the Eastern concept of impermanence—where clinging to a defined form causes suffering and illusion—Misia De Angelis frees her work from geometric rigor in favor of an open vision that transforms painting into a sensitive, luminous, and moving experience.
It is an atmospheric painting where colors, applied using watercolor techniques on paper, radiate light and energy, turning the perception of space into something cosmic.

It is no coincidence, then, that the titles of some of her works offer poetic references to historic space missions. Earthrise, the iconic photograph taken by astronaut William Anders on December 24, 1968, during the Apollo 8 mission—immortalizing the Earth emerging from the lunar horizon and re-imagined in a new vision during the latest flyby around the Moon by the Artemis II mission—and the title Spirit, a nod to the rover launched by NASA in 2003 to explore Mars.
These are evocative suggestions of an ongoing research project, merging the desire to map fluid territories in harmony with the energy of the universe.
