Circuits of Flesh is an autobiographical project by Marcello Mazzella that stems from a reflection that has accompanied my work from the very beginning: the relationship between nature and artifice, body and technology. I imagine electronic circuits merging with flesh, skin, blood and bodily fluids. Information, bits, codes and algorithms ideally flow through the veins together with blood, interacting with biological matter until they become part of the same system. Digital technologies and artificial intelligence are creating a new environment that we engage with every day. In my work, I search for a meeting point between matter and information, the natural and the artificial, through a relationship shaped by attraction, resistance and continuous transformation. I do not necessarily see this fusion as a dystopian prospect or as the disappearance of the human, but rather as the search for a possible synthesis: a body in which blood and information can flow together. Circuits of Flesh is therefore a self-portrait in constant evolution, in which, through art, I seek to make our relationship with technology more human, accessible, physical and personal.
