On Saturday, October 10, 2026, at 5:00 PM, the Vi.P. Gallery Valcamonica – Virgilio Patarini Arte Contemporanea (located at Via Nazionale 35 in Niardo, Brescia) will inaugurate the first exhibition of the 2026/2027 season.
Titled Koinè ‘26. For a Common Language of Contemporary Art and curated by Virgilio Patarini, the event showcases approximately 80 works by artists who will feature prominently in the gallery’s upcoming schedule of solo and thematic group exhibitions through September 2027—not only at the Vi.P. Gallery in Niardo but also at museums and galleries across Italy, continuing a tradition established in previous seasons.
The 22 selected artists include three from the Valcamonica area and a significant group from Brescia and the wider Lombardy region.
On display are works by Alberto Besson, Alessandro Bulgarini, Alessandra Cantamessa, Valentina Carrera, Vito Carta, Raffaele De Francesco, Rinaldo Degradi, Daniela Doni, Carlo D’Orta, Graziano Filippini, Marco Lombardo, Massimiliano Marino, Franco Maruotti, Angelita Mattioli, Salvatore Montemagno, Ugo Moreno, Virgilio Patarini, Olga Polichtchouk, Maria Luisa Ritorno, Michele Schirinzi, Ivo Stazio, and Anita Treccani.
In Ancient Greek, the term “koinè” referred to the common language shared by the Greeks, transcending the differences between local dialects and regional tongues (such as Attic, Doric, etc.). Now more than ever, there is a clear need to determine whether a lowest common denominator exists within the infinite variables of contemporary art—beyond trends or superficial phenomena, and beyond pointless distinctions between genres, figuration and abstraction, or the modern and the contemporary. This is precisely the aim of this exhibition and, more broadly, of the work carried out by the Vi.P. Gallery and the Zamenhof Art Cultural Association that manages it.
