The ChorAsis-Lo spazio della visione association, under the patronage of the Tuscany Region and the Municipality of Prato, hosts LA RABBIA, a group exhibition at the historic Villa Rospigliosi in Prato.

A project by Mariana Ferratto, Martina Fontana, and Pietro Gaglianò, it features works by Elena Bellantoni, Angelo Bellobono, Pamela Diamante, Iginio De Luca, Davide Dormino, Giovanni Gaggia, Mariana Ferratto, Martina Fontana, Loredana Longo, and Giuseppe Stampone.

This exhibition arises from the convergence of concern for a global landscape increasingly marked by conflict and the erosion of rights and the question of the artist’s role and positioning in the face of all this.
As we observe the strengthening of war rhetoric and genocidal policies, amid the silent complicity of most cultural institutions, we ask ourselves how to express our dissent against the systems of power and the collusion that lend legitimacy to all this. Art workers are forging new alliances with activism in the streets, constantly discussing it in the spaces of work and social relations. Within this framework, we want to question the anger mounting in the face of political incompetence, indifference, and the obtuse and merciless repetition of history.

How can art express its dissent? The tension between social critique and aesthetic critique is a constitutive factor of contemporaneity, fueling a debate rooted in the political turmoil of the 19th century and destined to remain open, repositioning itself in the flow of events and issues at stake.

ANGER arises from the ongoing tension between the status of art in society and the artist’s political sentiment. This opens a reflection on the very legitimacy of this sentiment, on how artists can express it in a balancing act between the autonomy of their artwork and political discourse.

ANGER is not an exhibition dedicated to one of the many ongoing conflicts on the planet (although some works originate precisely within solidarity projects with the Palestinian people): we don’t need works that describe something that is already sadly crystalline and broadcast worldwide. It is a project on art’s ability to express itself, to transform anger into vision: to give form to the anger they feel, that we feel, without rhetoric or conceptualism. Like a meeting where the experience of art takes the place of words.
