MAMbo – Museo d’Arte Moderna di Bologna will present *Fabio Mauri: A Catalogue Raisonné*, edited by Carolyn Christov-Bakargiev and published by Allemandi Editore (Italian edition) and Hatje Cantz (English edition) to mark the centenary of the artist’s birth.
Speakers will include the book’s editor, Carolyn Christov-Bakargiev, a leading expert on Mauri’s work; Francesca Alfano Miglietti, Laura Cherubini and Andrea Viliani, scholars and members of the Scientific Committee of the Studio Fabio Mauri – Associazione per l’Arte L’Esperimento del Mondo; and Sara Codutti, a researcher and author of the catalogue entries. The event will be moderated by Caterina Molteni, the museum’s curator.
A leading figure in the Italian avant-garde from the post-war period through to the early 2000s, Fabio Mauri was a multifaceted intellectual – a visual artist, writer, lecturer and publisher – whose work is distinguished by his prophetic insights into the power of the screen in contemporary society.
The Catalogue Raisonné on Fabio Mauri is the result of extensive cataloguing and research carried out over several years by Studio Fabio Mauri – Associazione per l’Arte L’Esperimento del Mondo and brings together and documents over 3,600 works, including not only pieces held in public and private collections, but also ephemeral, destroyed or lost works, reconstructed using archival sources, photographs and documents.
The publishing project is sponsored by MAMbo – Museo d’Arte Moderna di Bologna | Settore Musei CIvici | Comune di Bologna, in collaboration with Studio Fabio Mauri – Associazione per l’Arte L’Esperimento del Mondo and realised thanks to the support of the Direzione Generale Creatività Contemporanea of the Ministero della Cultura as part of the Italian Council programme (14th edition, 2025), aimed at the international promotion of Italian contemporary art worldwide.
As usual, the permanent collections of MAMbo and the Morandi Museum will be open to the public free of charge from 10.00 to 19.00, reaffirming the commitment to engaging an ever-increasing and more diverse number of visitors.
The Dipartimento Educativo MAMbo | Museo Morandi will be offering a free guided tour for adults entitled ‘Incroci d’arte’ from 11.00 to 12.00, and a free workshop for children aged 6 to 10 entitled ‘Liberi di pensare’ from 15.00 to 17.00. In addition, from 2.30 pm to 6.30 pm will, as they do every Saturday and Sunday, provide a museum guidance service, taking turns in the permanent collection galleries of the two museums.
