Linealità

For the 22nd Giornata del Contemporaneo promoted by AMACI, Fondazione De Chiara De Maio presents Linealità, a solo exhibition by Salvatore Manzi, curated by Valerio Falcone. The exhibition marks the opening of the fifth edition of COLORI, the Foundation’s programme dedicated to contemporary artistic research.
Linealità brings together works spanning different areas of Manzi’s practice – from painting and sculpture to installation and digital media – creating a journey in which the line becomes a way of reading and transforming space. It is not simply a graphic mark, but a presence that defines, connects and measures, establishing relationships between forms, distances and perceptions.
Throughout the exhibition, geometric structures, essential volumes and fields of colour interact with materials such as metal and enamel, as well as with light and three-dimensional elements. The simplicity of these forms brings into focus a continuous dialogue between what can be seen and what escapes the eye, between matter and energy, presence and absence. The exhibition space itself becomes part of the work, turning into a place to move through and experience.
This relationship between artwork and environment lies at the heart of what the artist calls “cosmization”: an approach to space based on lines, forms and volumes that create new relationships and invite viewers to reflect on the way we measure and inhabit the world.
Among the works on display, Forza Cosmica brings this research into a digital and interactive dimension. Created through a generative system of interconnected nodes and geometric rods, the work responds in real time to sounds in the surrounding environment: noise alters its visual structure, the thickness of the lines and the forces at play within the image. Rather than remaining static, the work changes in response to the space around it and to the presence of the audience.
With Linealità, Salvatore Manzi brings geometric rigour, matter, light and technology into dialogue, developing a practice that explores the boundary between the physical and the immaterial. For Fondazione De Chiara De Maio, taking part in Contemporary Art Day offers an opportunity to share this experience with the public and to continue its commitment to promoting contemporary artistic practices.
