On Saturday, 10 October, Fondazione Valenzi ETS will open the exhibition “Art and Resistance in Naples. The Creative Journey of Marino Mazzacurati” to the public free of charge at its premises in the Maschio Angioino. The exhibition is dedicated to the artistic process that led to the creation of the Monument to the Four Days of Naples.
Throughout the day, visitors will be able to explore Marino Mazzacurati’s creative workshop through preparatory plaster and bronze models, original drawings and studies, following the path from the initial idea to the development of one of the most significant monumental works in Naples’ civic memory. Particular attention is devoted to the four plaster models created as studies for the Monument to the Four Days of Naples, which have recently undergone conservation work that has enabled them to be made accessible to the public once again. The exhibition therefore offers the opportunity to observe not only the finished work, but also the research, revisions and formal solutions through which Mazzacurati transformed the memory of the Neapolitan Resistance into form and material. The exhibition also includes drawings by the artist from the Fondazione Valenzi collections, works that further explore his research into the human body and movement, and a selection of historical photographs from the Parisio-Troncone Photographic Archive dedicated to the Four Days of Naples.
The special opening on 10 October therefore offers the public an opportunity to discover Mazzacurati’s work and, through his creative process, to revisit one of the fundamental episodes in the history and civic memory of the city.
