The online catalogue of heritage and public collections held by AMACI’s member museums has grown with the addition of two new collections. The RAAM Archive is a project run jointly by AMACI and the Directorate-General for Contemporary Creativity of the Ministry of Culture.
Together with the Directorate-General for Contemporary Creativity of the Ministry of Culture, we are pleased to announce the addition of two new public collections to RAAM – Ricerca Archivio AMACI Musei, the online catalogue dedicated to the heritage and contemporary art collections of AMACI’s member museums.
The collections now joining RAAM are those of MAC – Museo d’Arte Contemporanea in Lissone and the Luigi Spazzapan Regional Gallery of Contemporary Art in Gradisca d’Isonzo, which are added to the collections already featured, further extending the mapping and understanding of Italy’s public contemporary art heritage.
In addition, during 2025 the complete collection of Museion – Museum of Modern and Contemporary Art in Bolzano underwent a thorough process of review and systematisation. The entire holding was updated through the addition of numerous new images and the revision of the data in the artwork records. This work has significantly improved the overall quality, accessibility and organisation of the information available.
Established through the joint initiative of the Directorate-General for Contemporary Creativity of the Ministry of Culture (formerly the Directorate-General for Contemporary Art and Architecture and Urban Peripheries of MiBACT) and AMACI, RAAM – Ricerca Archivio AMACI Musei is a digital archive available online at www.archivioraam.org, designed to showcase the extent and quality of the contemporary art heritage – from 1966 to the present day – held in AMACI’s member museums.

The archive brings together and makes accessible the collections of 23 public museums – state, regional, provincial and municipal – that make up the AMACI network, offering a uniquely comprehensive overview in terms of scope, structure and scholarly value. It represents 12,942 works of contemporary art by 4,363 artists. The distinctiveness of the project lies in its ability to bring together, in a single tool, the works held by 23 Italian museums coordinated by the AMACI network, thereby providing an overall view of the heritage represented by the collections of its member museums, while also allowing individual works to be consulted online complete with images and related information.
The archive is an ongoing project, constantly updated and expanded by AMACI’s member museums, which contribute to the growth of this public heritage in accordance with their own acquisition policies.
Within the website, members of the public can carry out advanced searches and consult the record for each work, complete with images and information on the artist, date, technique, materials and the museum to which it belongs. RAAM is not only an agile and innovative research system, but also a tool for knowledge and transparency: a point of access for scholars, professionals in the field, museum audiences and digital users interested in exploring the quality, extent and distribution of Italy’s public contemporary art heritage.
