It is a genuine map of contemporary art that shows not only the big cities, like Turin, Milan, Bologna, Rome, and Naples, but also smaller but very active centers like Prato, Trento, Merano, Siracusa, or Pesaro, where the museums have assumed the role of cultural centers, committed to their mission of presenting and promoting the activity of contemporary artists, who express themselves through complex languages that are not always accessible to the public at large.

The encounter with contemporary art has thus taken on a dual significance: on the one hand, present the public with a sampling of the most significant artistic phenomena of our time, and on the other hand highlight the importance of the Italian museum institutions that are committed to contemporary art in order to reveal an extremely lively cultural reality. It is an art that can make us reflect on the problems and contradictions of our present, often in a surprising, but never in a banal way.

Giornata del Contemporaneo represents a great opportunity to come into contact with the world of contemporary art in a lively and dynamic way. Every museum of AMACI has invited all the institutions that operate in its territory to participate in the project with its own contribution: from the fine arts academies to private galleries, from foundations to private collectors, to artist studios.

In this way, every museum is transformed into the center of a network of disparate exhibition activities (exhibitions, encounters, lectures, shows, concerts performances, and other forms of creative expression), to create a lively and dynamic gathering that will continue through the night. Admission was free to all the museums for the entire day.
