{"id":1499,"date":"2025-06-15T10:26:36","date_gmt":"2025-06-15T10:26:36","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/amaci.org\/%f0%9f%96%88-presentazione-del-volume-museums-at-the-ecological-turn-domenica-15-giugno-2025-miss-reads-berlino\/"},"modified":"2026-09-16T15:50:42","modified_gmt":"2026-09-16T15:50:42","slug":"miss-reads","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/amaci.org\/en\/miss-reads\/","title":{"rendered":"Presentation of the volume &#8220;Museums at the Ecological Turn&#8221; | Sunday 15 June 2025"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>The event <strong><em>Are Museums Undergoing an Ecological Turn?<\/em><\/strong>, curated by NERO and EECLECTIC and hosted at MISS READ: The Berlin Art Book Fair &amp; Festival in Berlin, reflects on how museums are responding to the climate crisis, examining their potential to address sustainability, conservation and the long-term survival of the planet.<\/p>\n<p>Inspired by the volume<em> Museums at the Ecological Turn<\/em> (AMACI &amp; NERO, 2024), the event \u2014 featuring contributions from<strong> Lorenzo Balbi<\/strong>, <strong>Katharina K\u00f6hle<\/strong>, <strong>Jumana Manna<\/strong>, <strong>Janine Sack<\/strong> and <strong>Franciska Z\u00f3lyom<\/strong> \u2014 sets out to consider <strong>how museums can act as ethical agents in the face of ecological collapse<\/strong>, in particular through the work of Jumana Manna, whose artistic practice highlights the complex relationship between ecology and politics, critiquing extractivism and colonial conservation practices.<\/p>\n<p>A second central theme of the discussion will be the exhibition and publication<em> Things That Were Are Things Again<\/em> (EECLECTIC, 2025), an experimental attempt by Leipzig&#8217;s GfZK (Galerie f\u00fcr Zeitgen\u00f6ssische Kunst) to curate a climate-neutral collections exhibition \u2014 developed in collaboration with artists and designers to implement circular strategies, reduce energy consumption and rethink the use of resources.<\/p>\n<p>Through these perspectives, the event aims to <strong>reflect on the potential of museums to promote ecological awareness, social transformation and sustainable futures<\/strong>.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p><strong>INFO<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>The talk, <strong>free of charge<\/strong> and held in <strong>English<\/strong>, will take place at the SAFI FAYE STAGE at HKW, MISS READ Space in Wedding, in the courtyard on the ground floor, at Gerichtstrasse 45, Berlin. www.missread.com.
